Privacy Policy
Stub does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. We don't have servers. We don't have accounts. We don't have analytics. We don't know who you are.
What Stub stores
Your receipts, metadata, categories, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you choose iCloud Drive as your storage location (the default), your receipt PDFs are also stored in your private iCloud Drive container, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We have no access to any of this data. It never touches a server we operate, because we don't operate any servers.
On-device AI
Stub uses Apple's Foundation Models framework (Apple Intelligence) to extract information from your receipts. This processing happens entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to Apple or to us.
OpenRouter (optional)
If you choose to use the OpenRouter AI option, Stub sends the text content of your receipt to OpenRouter's API using your own API key. This is a direct connection between your device and OpenRouter. We are not involved in this exchange. We never see your API key, your receipt data, or OpenRouter's response.
The only metadata sent to OpenRouter is the app name (Stub) and the Stub website URL (getstub.app). Both are optional headers used for app attribution on OpenRouter's platform. No personal or device information is included.
OpenRouter's handling of your data is governed by OpenRouter's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it before enabling this option. It is off by default.
Permissions
Stub requests access to your camera (for scanning), your photo library (for importing), and file system locations (for storage). These permissions are used solely to capture, import, and store your receipts on your device. No data from these sources is transmitted anywhere by Stub.
Analytics and tracking
None. Stub contains no analytics frameworks, no crash reporting, no telemetry, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party code that phones home. We cannot see how you use the app, how often you open it, or whether you even still have it installed.
Children
Stub does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. Given that the entire policy boils down to "we don't collect your data," we don't expect it to change much.
